Text messaging standards have barely changed since the days of the brick phone. Messages are still sent in 140-byte chunks, known as message segments. When Noterro sends out SMS messages, they are sent to carriers one segment at a time. Message segments are how Noterro (and the SMS industry as a whole) counts SMS messages. Clinic SMS sending capacity is based on the number of message segments sent on a rolling 30-day period.

Calculating segments is based on length and types of characters used, so we show you how many segments your SMS message is consuming or estimated to consume if variables are used in your message.

How to optimize your message for fewer segments?

There isn't a reset date. Clinic SMS sending capacity is based on the number of message segments sent on a rolling 30-day period. When we attempt to send an SMS message, we check to see how many SMS message segments your clinic has sent within the last 30 days. We send it as long as it's less than your sending capacity. There is no "reset date" in this way of calculation since it's always done in real-time at the time of delivery.

File Uploads

File Uploads feature offers storage in 5GB blocks, and you can enable this feature when you would like to store additional information, such as x-ray reports, in a patient/client profile. You can enable or disable file uploads at any time. To increase your file upload capacity, click Manage below the toggle switch. You will be billed a prorated amount for the new capacity. If you need to reduce your capacity, please email us at support@noterro.com.

Call Reminders

You can enable or disable call reminders at any time. To increase your call reminders capacity, click Manage below the toggle switch. You will be billed a prorated amount for the new capacity. If you need to reduce your capacity, please email us at support@noterro.com.

The maximum number of phone calls that your clinic can make in a 30-day period. This is calculated on a rolling period. Every time your clinic tries to make a phone call, Noterro determines the number of phone calls that your clinic has made in the previous 30 days. Your phone call will be made as long as the total number of phone calls you have made in the past 30 days is less than this 30-day maximum.

Insurance

You can track the entire insurance workflow, from insurance claims to EOBs to payments. You can enable or disable insurance at any time. You will be billed a prorated amount when you enable this feature.

Packages & Memberships

Packages & Memberships allow you to create programs offering valuable incentives to keep patients returning. You can enable or disable packages & memberships at any time. You will be billed a prorated amount when you enable this feature.

  • Could you write shorter messages?
  • Avoid special characters and emojis; these cause the message to be encoded in a less-optimized way and result in fewer characters per segment.
  • Don't copy/paste your message into your Noterro notifications; this could inadvertently place special characters that appear as non-special characters in your message. You can type it in from scratch.
